QlikView vs. Qlik Sense: What are the benefits of switching to a new BI generation?

In the enterprise environment today, it’s clear that to remain competitive in the future, you need full transparency about your current financial situation and potential developments. Exactly for this task, Business Intelligence, short BI, was created. BI systems that have aged, however, can barely keep up with the increasing demands. It is therefore time to switch to innovative solutions. The reason why this change is worth it becomes clear when comparing two popular solutions: QlikView vs. Qlik Sense.

Outdated data warehouse systems reach their limits

Business intelligence solutions are “state of the art” in controlling and corporate planning today. How are our key performance indicators developing, where can we use resources more efficiently, and how does the company compare to the competition? Which business sectors are performing well and which sectors offer room for improvement? BI-Tools provide a solid information foundation for these and many other important business questions. They usually source their data from a central data warehouse, often referred to as a Single Point of Truth. This has the significant advantage that all departments within the company operate on a consistent information basis.

However, traditional data warehouses and BI solutions also have some weaknesses. For example, they are hardly able to process data in real time. As a result, analyses and reports are always to some extent focused on the past. Old systems also fail to combine data from different sources and make it available for an integrated view. The customizability of reports is often limited as well. Richard Ranftl is aware of this as well. He is the CEO of Transform8 GmbH, based in Munich, which specializes in technological and professional consulting in the BI (Business Intelligence) field. The gap is growing larger for many employees in the field of data management, dashboarding, and reporting. Regarding the massively increasing need for information combined with an increasingly high time pressure to provide the right data, existing reporting and data warehouse systems are increasingly reaching their limits,” says Ranftl. In order to remain competitive, companies must think about the right data strategy and a suitable, high-performance data platform,” the expert continues.
