The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed what was already apparent before the crisis: German companies need to catch up with digitization and the flexibility of their processes. While many organizations have made progress in these areas out of necessity, there is still room for improvement. One major vulnerability, for example, is the signature and approval processes. Mr. Müller is a salesman in a mechanical engineering company. To finally reach a contract agreement with a difficult customer, they have to offer a substantial discount that exceeds his decision-making authority. According to internal policy, he therefore needs approval from his sales manager.
Since the transaction exceeds a volume of 500,000 euros, the company’s managing director must also give her approval.The problem: All participants are at different locations in Germany, travel a lot and sometimes also work from their home offices.

The consequences are clear: processes are unnecessarily protracted and cause high administrative costs. In the worst-case scenario in our example, the major customer might even withdraw from the deal because the decision on the discount takes too long. This problem can be solved by e-signatures.
